Audio Visual Maintenance Technician I

Job Summary
The Audio Visual Maintenance Technician I is responsible for general break-fix solutions, periodic routine checks, and Level 1 device administration/maintenance of classroom and conference room Audio Visual (A/V) Infrastructure to ensure optimal performance is achieved throughout the FGCU campus and its nearby satellite locations. Monitors real-time inquiries from staff and faculty members concerning the A/V Infrastructure, and addresses general maintenance requests that come through our Zendesk ticketing system. May also be part of additional projects and installations across campus under the direct supervision of an A/V Systems Engineer.

Job Description

Typical duties may include but are not limited to:
  • Installs, troubleshoots, and repairs peripherals, AV control panels, and computers. Installs basic AV software.
  • Tests AV Equipment/Completes Podium Checks on a Periodic Schedule.
  • Resolves internal user problems and ensures correct operation of audio visual equipment.
  • Conducts and maintains general inventory of classroom technology.
  • Maintains parts inventory and logs all service/repair activity.
  • Serves as point of contact for faculty & staff questions.
  • Processes orders, logs, and controls loan equipment inventory.
  • Tracks tickets in work order system.


Other Duties:
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
  • Monitors student OPS Responses to classrooms.
  • Completes online Creston training.


Additional Job Description

Required Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • One year of related full-time experience in multimedia technical system support, helpdesk support, or other closely related experience
  • Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience, and/or certifications may be considered.
  • Valid Driver's License.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in an area of appropriate specialization.
  • Experience in higher education.
  • Experience with technical support of computer and multimedia systems; operating and troubleshooting classroom media presentation systems.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of and ability to manage audio visual control equipment such as Crestron/AMX/Extron.
  • Knowledge of desktop computers and basic networking concepts.
  • Skill in using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and an ability to prioritize and complete simultaneous projects within deadlines.
  • Ability to thrive in an organization that values the diversity of its student body and workforce and actively promotes equity and inclusion.
  • Ability to take initiative to plan, organize, coordinate and perform work in various situations when numerous and diverse demands are involved.
  • Ability to collaborate and work effectively within a diverse community and willingness to contribute to a team effort.
  • Ability to operate personal computers with proficiency and to learn new applications and systems.
  • Ability to work independently and follow through on assignments.
  • Ability to provide professional customer service.
  • Ability to install and operate sound systems for events.
