UTSI seeks a Maintenance Supervisor to lead maintenance and grounds operations across campus. This role oversees facilities projects; schedules and directs work for maintenance and grounds crews; ensures safe, compliant, and timely completion of work orders; and serves as a primary point of contact for faculty, staff, students, and contractors on maintenance matters. The supervisor also supports office and laboratory renovations and ensures campus readiness during inclement weather or other events.
Responsibilities
- Leadership & Operations: Supervise and mentor maintenance and grounds teams; manage scheduling, time approvals, leave requests, performance reviews, and timely closure of work orders; coordinate office and laboratory space reconfigurations in response to evolving needs.
- Project & Preventive Maintenance: Oversee campus projects; scope and estimate materials and labor; maintain heavy and small equipment; order parts and maintain essential spares for HVAC/energy management systems, boilers, VAV units, fan coils, and structural/mechanical/plumbing work.
- Electrical & Building Systems: Perform electrical troubleshooting and installation; estimate costs; order electrical parts; maintain and troubleshoot fire alarm and energy management systems (including field controllers, valves, and actuators); repair and upgrade lighting (including LED, exit, emergency, street, and perimeter).
- Grounds & Campus Upkeep: Direct landscaping, ornamental gardens, tree care, campus and roadway debris removal, and seasonal leaf/snow/ice response (including preventive measures); maintain grounds equipment (mowers, tractors, leaf equipment).
- Renovations: Lead small interior renovations, including material estimates and orders, demolition/construction of walls, drywall repair and painting, and replacement of flooring, base, and ceiling tiles/grids.
Qualifications
Required
- Vocational/technical training (trade/craft certificate or equivalent).
- Ten (10) years of experience in industrial maintenance, including at least three (3) years in a supervisory role; five (5) years of equipment troubleshooting.
- Current State electrical license and EPA Universal certification; OSHA/TOSHA knowledge and compliance.
- Valid driver's license; ability to complete Program for Minors training and pass the associated background check.
- Demonstrated knowledge of OSHA, EPA, NFPA, DOT regulations; strong organizational, analytical, and technical skills; effective written and oral communication; ability to prioritize and adapt in a dynamic environment; sound judgment and diplomacy; commitment to accuracy and safety.
Preferred
- Two (2) years of experience purchasing "off-the-shelf" electrical, plumbing, and HVAC equipment.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Teams.
