Job Description
The University of Tennessee is seeking dependable and detail-oriented individuals to join our Parking Maintenance team. This position is responsible for ensuring a clean, safe, and welcoming environment across all parking facilities. A Parking Maintenance Worker performs a full range of duties related to parking garage/lot maintenance and minor landscape maintenance, and repairs. This position supports parking operations during on-campus events; signage placement, and placement of other materials. Due to events occurring sporadically, this position must be flexible as hours may adjust based on the needs of the University.

This position will primarily work outside in all weather conditions, sometimes work is performed in right-of-way areas. Maintain a neat and clean appearance. Must have the ability to handle job stress and interact effectively and professionally with members of the public. Must be honest and truthful in all tasks and responsibilities.


Responsibilities
  • Installs signs designating permanent or temporary parking zones.
  • Replace broken or damaged gate arms as needed.
  • Conduct asphalt patching and repair.
  • Provides support in the repair and maintenance of electronic parking control systems and devices.
  • Routine interior and exterior maintenance on parking garages and surface lots, including painting, and minor repairs.
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance duties including cleaning equipment.
  • Maintain visual appearance by removing debris with blowers and pressure washers. Performs related labor duties such as emptying trash, graffiti removal in parking lots and parking garages. Also, clear walkways, remove leaves and/or snow, or perform other incidental seasonal tasks.
  • Runs sweeper to ensure cleanliness in parking facilities.
  • Performs a variety of minor routine building maintenance tasks; identifies and reports building maintenance needs.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent
  • Advanced levels with education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous parking facilities maintenance.
  • Some vocational or technical training; Electrical, Construction, Welding.
  • Vocational or technical training in the area of study related to maintenance (i.e., electrical, construction, welding), with two years of relevant experience.

Work Location
  • Position is on-site and located in Knoxville, Tennessee.

Compensation and Benefits
  • UT market range: MR03 or MR05 Depending on experience
  • Anticipated hiring range: $35,360.00 - $43,680.00 Depending on experience
