Salary Expectation: $26.82 to $33.52 per hour (Note: The hourly rate will commensurate based on education and occupational experience).

SHIFT: Day hours (weekends rare) | Flexible based upon the needs of the College
LOCATION: Lakeshore College - Cleveland, Wisconsin
POSITION SUMMARY: Under general supervision, the maintenance technician, performs a variety of maintenance activities such as: inspect, maintain and repair our campus buildings, electrical systems, HVAC, plumbing, indoor and outdoor grounds, etc. Work expectations differ day by day and working conditions could be indoors or outdoors. The maintenance technician is responsible for ensuring our buildings are in good working condition. You'll also identify and implement corrective actions and preventative maintenance practices to enhance overall efficiencies to meet department objectives and goals. Provide an exceptional customer service experience to both internal and external customers throughout every interaction.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS (Other duties may be assigned):
(40%) Building Maintenance
- Inspects, maintain, and repair various campus buildings maintenance related activities.
- Operates and maintains boilers, valves, pumps, and related equipment.
- Adjusts and maintains control instruments of various types.
- Operates power distribution panels.
- Operates and maintains air handling systems, air conditioning systems, and related equipment, including fans, motors, controls, and pumps.
- Operates and maintains sewerage disposal systems, including pumps, motors, and other related equipment.
- Assists in the development and implementation of scheduled preventive maintenance programs.
(30%) Grounds Maintenance
- Works with other building service employees in the performance of related duties.
- Maintains and tends outside grounds to include mowing, watering, planting, mulching, trimming grass, flowers, bushes, and trees.
- Repairs and maintains plumbing, piping, fixtures, vehicles and equipment including company vehicles, lawn and snow equipment.
- Sets up and resets designated areas for special events and meetings.
- Opens and secures building at designated times for school and special events as needed.
- Maintains and repairs indoor/outdoor lighting.
- Programs and schedules building control system that controls fire, lighting, and HVAC systems.
(30%) Maintenance Support
- Participates in the implementation, practice, and reporting for safety drills such as fire, severe weather, and active shooter.
- Replaces, repairs, installs lock cylinders and latching devices.
- Adjusts and aligns doors and closers to operate properly.
- Attends in-service training, workshops and other educational activities as required or assigned.
- Performs other related duties as required for the efficient operations of the division.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Associate's degree from a regionally accredited college or university in a related discipline required.
- Five (5) years of experience in building maintenance and repairs, including at least two (2) years of experience in the maintenance of air handling and related equipment preferred.
Note: If educational requirements are not met, candidates may still be considered, however the expectation would be that it will be met within 3 years of employment.
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSURE, REGISTRATION:
- Valid state of Wisconsin driver's license required.
MVR CHECK Required - The employee in this position is a potential operator of a Lakeshore College owned vehicle or may be responsible for driving any other motor vehicles on behalf of the College.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
KNOWLEDGE
- Knowledge of Lakeshore's mission, vision and strategic direction.
- Knowledge of heating, ventilating, refrigeration, electrical, water sewerage and control systems, and the tools and equipment used for repair and maintenance.
- Knowledge of the mechanical devices, valves, booster pumps, fans, compressors, condensers, and control system switches.
- Knowledge of related safety practices and procedures.

- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.).

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or hear.
- The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms.
- The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Work environment may require multi-tasking.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
