Primary Purpose of Organization Unit:
Under the supervision of the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Facilities, Facilities Management comprises of two departments - Facilities Operations; and Facilities Planning and Construction. The primary mission is delivering required services, financial oversight, and providing a liaison with appropriate Federal, State, and local agencies on matters related to planning, constructing, operating and maintaining the physical campus environment.
Facilities Management strives to provide a safe, clean, accessible, and attractive environment which enhances the abilities of academic and administrative departments to provide a personalized education experience.
Primary Purpose of Position:
The primary purpose of this position responsibilities includes but are not limited to minor maintenance related repairs within the Residence Halls. These include but are not limited to patch, paint, HVAC filter changes, minor door adjustments, simple plumbing repairs, non-complex floor repairs and/or replacements, lighting lamp replacements, bathroom fixture and asset replacements, minor cabinet adjustments and simple appliance repairs.
Job Description:
Repair doors and windows and other wooden articles, replace where need. Carry replacement doors and windows to installation location. Move and set up furniture (i.e. beds, desks, mattress, sofas, chairs) in student rooms and in common areas of facilities. Repair plumbing fixtures, including unstopping of commodes, drains and sewer lines and the cleaning of grease traps. Remove inoperable fixtures and replace where needed. Operate the more common type of machine shop equipment in cutting and threading pipes and operating power saw and drill procedures. Transport and install portable air conditioning units and remove and repair as needed. Inventory and remove units to and from service location. Perform acetylene and electrical welding of routine nature. Perform re-lamping as required and replace lights and lights covers where needed. Perform patch plastering work, cementing of cracks, holes or other breaks in surfaces; paint structured components as needed. Perform other related duties as required.
This position is designated as Mandatory Personnel: Employees whose presence has been determined to be mandatory to University operations during certain types of adverse weather or emergency events.
Management Preference:
Five to seven years of directly related experience
Lic or Certifications Required by Statute or Regulation: Valid Driver's License
