General Position Description:
Responsible for performing a variety of routine maintenance tasks in carpentry, electrical, plumbing, painting, limited HVAC repairs or other maintenance areas. This position may perform maintenance assignments alone or it may help other more skilled craft personnel in performing their duties.

Essential Job Functions:
1. Accomplishes repairs in electrical systems to include lights, fuses, lamps, fixtures, relays motors, pump switches, etc.
2. Cleans clogged drains and toilets and assists in performing other plumbing repairs.
3. Cleans air conditioning equipment and cooling towers and replaces air filters as required.
4. Performs carpentry repairs. Assists in renovation of rooms. Hangs dry wall.
5. Performs routine mechanical or appliance repair.
6. Oils or greases equipment.
7. Prepares and paints inside and outside of buildings, cabinets, furniture, etc.
8. Maintains equipment used in maintenance activities.
9. Performs other duties as assigned.

Skill in the operation and preventative maintenance of equipment and related tools.
Ability to perform heavy (over 45 lbs.) lifting and carrying and manual labor which may require standing, kneeling, bending, stooping, and reaching in various weather conditions.
Ability to work effectively in a diverse community and meet the needs of diverse student populations.
General Working Conditions:
This job operates in a professional office environment and throughout the College's worksites and grounds. Within the professional office environment, the employee will routinely operate standard office equipment including but not limited to computers, keyboards, mouse, phones, photocopiers, printers, scanners, filing cabinets and fax machines. The noise level in the office work environment is usually quiet and occasionally moderate.
While operating outside of the office environment, the employee may be exposed to elements including but not limited to wet/humid weather, extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, and unpleasant odors. The role may also involve hazards or physical risks, which require comprehending and following basic safety precautions and may require Personal Protection Equipment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate and occasionally loud.
Typical physical competencies include but are not limited to remaining stationary, moving, ascending/descending, positioning self, reaching, lifting/moving objects weighing between 5-100 pounds. This job also entails frequently communicating, discerning and exchanging information, detecting and perceiving objects up close, at a distance, and the ability to adjust focus. Cognitive abilities include but are not limited to discretion, judgment, reasoning, memory, learning, maintaining confidentiality, comprehension, problem solving, and decision-making.

Job Specific Working Conditions:
This position also involves working in a construction setting and may be exposed to airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. May also be occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at construction job sites and/or other workshops. May be exposed to flames while welding and similar operations.
Will be required to operate a college vehicle, including but not limited to on and between campuses and in the local community, in order to perform the essential job functions.
